Ensuring your chimney is safe to use
Why is it important to sweep your chimney?
Chimney sweeping is important for your safety, the efficiency of your fire or stove, and to help the environment. Your chimney is designed to allow the smooth flow and exit of your fire’s exhaust gases and smoke. The smoke is made up of harmful soot particles and carbon monoxide. In addition soot particles are flammable and, with regular use of your fire, will build up and line the inside of your chimney. In sufficient quantities, this will risk becoming one of the UK’s 10,000 annual chimney fires. Routine sweeping maintenance reduces these risks and helps ensure that you’re doing your bit to help the environment too.

Environmental impacts:
A dirty chimney and / or stove will also increase harm to the environment. Maintaining the efficiency of a stove is vital to minimise the environmental impact, reducing harmful PM2.5 soot particulates. As part and parcel of any sweep I’ll be able to identify issues and provide help and advice to make sure you are making the most of your stove and helping the environment.
